Woo-Hoo People

During the cruise I had plenty of time to watch an interesting cross-section of people. By far the most entertaining/annoying are the group I call the “woo-hoo people.” Who are these people? They are the ones that end every sentence by raising their arms up and emitting a loud Woo-Hoo (“I’m going to the bar! Woo-hoo!”  or “I’m on vacation! Woo-hoo!”). Alcohol is often involved as well. What bothers me the most about these people is the fact that they feel like they must do everything in the extreme. They don’t have a few drinks, they get drunk. They don’t lounge by the pool, they splash around annoying others. They are obnoxious and are not concerned for the others around them, because they are on vacation.

The main issue for me is not so much that they are loud and annoying, I can always move away from them, instead, it is about the fact that they feel they need to do this at all. In essence they are saying during my day-to-day life I never have the excuse to cut loose, so now that I’m on vacation, I’m going to get it all in. Unfortunately following this to its conclusion means that you are more exhausted and in worse physical shape than you were before your vacation.

My other issue is that it makes it seem like these people do not get to enjoy their normal life. They have to save it up for when they are away. They should be doing what they like every day. I realize that daily life often keeps us from truly pursuing our desires, but it can be worked around. A little budgeting and planning can make it so you can do more of what you want. You may have to cut some things out, but it is still quite possible. You don’t need to excuse of vacation to express your inner self.

It may be that I’m misinterpreting these Woo-Hoo people. If so, let me know what you think about the Woo-Hoo people. Remember you don’t need an excuse to be who you are in the day-to-day; you just need to give yourself permission. Know yourself and you will be set free.
