The Comfort Zone
There is a lot of talk about your comfort zone and reaching outside of it. Everyone can agree that occasionally stretching of your zone is a good thing for you but very few people want to do it. Let’s face it, it is stressful and sometimes a little scary to set out of it, heck it is called a comfort zone for a reason. I’m comfortable there, it is safe and cozy and I know exactly what is expected of me. Outside of it is dark and scary and worst of all, I might fail.

Acting Like a Child
So my youngest one just turned three. It is amazing how much changes in such a short time for him and how independent he is growing. It is also funny to see what happens when something doesn’t go his way. He immediately gets frustrated and starts yelling “No!” I tell him to calm down and either solve it or show him how to solve it. It still takes him a few moments to reign his emotions back in, however. He is only three and that is how most three year-olds are. Read more »

500 Channels of Nothing On
So we have a satellite dish at our house in lieu of cable. The main reason we switched to it was that our cable company kept lying to us about when certain channels would be coming and since the dish got us more channels at less money (and without all of the extras fees and taxes that cable had), the decision was pretty easy. Who are You?
Typically when you meet a new person, the very first thing you ask is what they do. Everyone has some kind of job and it is a quick way to create a rapport with a person. It also seems to sum up a person in one quick answer. If someone says they are a doctor, you have an instant impression of them, or if they are a plumber, or artist, or engineer, or home maker. Each of these draws up an instant box to place the person and some corresponding assumptions.

I Can’t Get No…
So for my birthday a couple of years ago, my mother gave me an iPod shuffle. It turns out that 1gb is just over a week’s worth of listening when I head to work and back so the gift was just perfect for me. I put a couple of podcasts on it and then have iTunes randomly grab music from my collection.
I’ve also found that part of the reason I can go through 1gb of music in a week’s worth of driving is because I’m constantly skipping to the next song. Sometimes, it is because I’m just not in the mood for the current song, or maybe it is just one I don’t care for. But a lot of times I find myself enjoying the song I’m listening to when suddenly I wonder what the next one will be.
